Have you ever wondered why it seems some people are blessed more than others? The bible clearly tells us that The Lord gives some more than others. In Matthew 25: 15-30 it says,

And unto one he gave five talents, to another two, and to another one; to every man according to his several ability; and straightway took his journey.

Then he that had received the five talents went and traded with the same, and made them other five talents.

And likewise he that had received two, he also gained other two.

But he that had received one went and digged in the earth, and hid his lord’s money.

After a long time the lord of those servants cometh, and reckoneth with them.

And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.

His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

Then he which had received the one talent came and said, Lord, I knew thee that thou art an hard man, reaping where thou hast not sown, and gathering where thou hast not strawed:

And I was afraid, and went and hid thy talent in the earth: lo, there thou hast that is thine.

His lord answered and said unto him, Thou wicked and slothful servant, thou knewest that I reap where I sowed not, and gather where I have not strawed:

Thou oughtest therefore to have put my money to the exchangers, and then at my coming I should have received mine own with usury.

Take therefore the talent from him, and give it unto him which hath ten talents.

For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath.

And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

So we see here that just because you are not given much, it does not mean that The Lord is not expecting something from you. And when you are given much, The Lord is expecting much back from you. The Lord is righteous and just. He will not account of you, more than you received from him. The Lord expects the rich to give willingly. He told the rich man who did everything he was supposed to, to give uup his possessions, then come follow Him. This is because his heart was with his possessions, and not with God. Also The Messiah told a story of a rich man. Who lived the good life while he was upon this earth; there also was a beggar named Lazarus who went without. When it was time for The Lord to balance the scales, the rich man was found wanting. The Lord does not want us to store our treasures upon this earth, but freely you have received, and freely you should give.

We should not judge a man by appearance, but judge righteously. Just because it seems that a person is without, does not mean that The Lord doesn’t think upon him. The Lord loves honest scales and just weights. He will not put more on you than you can handle. He may entrust more hardship to an individual, because He knows that they are at a place to handle it. Then again, He may give someone out of the treasury of His gace. All these things in life will be measured with honest scales by God; the balance is of God. Is your life balanced? Do you give according to how you received? Or are you keeping His gifts back? Do you live modestly or are you blessed with riches and don’t consider Lazarus? God will put all these things in the balance to determine your final resting place and your blessings. Let us NOT fall into the same trap as the rich man or into the trap of being a slothful servant with little. May you be ready when it is time to weigh your deeds in the balance.
